I’ve heard it a million times… “Never leave a baby alone with pets or a toddler…Never!!!”
Well, I did, but only for a second. We were about to leave the house, but I was waiting for my husband to get home. He was due any second so I decided to secure the baby in his car seat so we would be that much quicker to head out the door. After I secured the baby in his seat I made a quick assessment of the situation. My toddler was sitting on the floor “reading” a book and the baby was fastened securely in his car seat. Perfect. I can quickly run to the other room and grab a more comfortable bra. I do that extremely quick as I know exactly where it is. Before I put it on I decide to do another quick assessment. Everything is still perfect. The toddler is still “reading” and the baby still in the carseat…Perfect! The second I step in the other room, however, I hear blood curdling screams coming from the baby. As I round the corner it looks as if the toddler has just pulled the sun visor down and annoyed the baby…so not the case. I realize then that my older son has a pen in his hand as he says “Jacques write on baby!” I screamed “Don’t write on the baby!” and as I said that, I thought- those are words I never thought would ever escape my lips.
I may have discovered something fabulous this past weekend!
Last Saturday as I was preparing to leave the house with my husband and two little boys, I hurried out of the bathroom and straight to my bedroom to put some lotion on my arms and legs. My two month old was stirring in his crib so I picked him up just as my husband called for my help in the next room. When I returned to my bedroom, I realized I still had a bit of lotion on my shoulder and proceeded to vigorously blend it in my upper arm. I then noticed the oh-so-familiar smell of baby spit-up. Yes, as one might concede, it was in fact spit-up that I had rubbed so vigorously into my arm.
I’ll be sure to let everyone know if spit-up softens skin as well as commercial lotions. Stay tuned for the results…or better yet, you can soon purchase it on this website.
It’s been some time since I’ve blogged anything. I suppose I am more of a reader of blogs than a writer of blogs. I do have some new news to report though. I am no longer pregnant!!! We had a healthy baby boy on May 27th. So far, he is an exceptionally easy baby. Quick…where’s some wood to knock on?
I’ve got about six weeks left to go with this pregnancy and a two-year-old son who insists on going to the park daily. He’s been every day for the last three weeks. I’m tired.
